1827 Newspaper Article Mentions Josiah Hosmer, Jr.

An article in the 20 August 1827 issue of the "New Hampshire Patriot and Gazette" published in Concord, New Hampshire says that Josiah Hosmer, Jr. prepared a "sumptuous dinner" for a July 4, 1827 celebration in Littleton, New Hampshire. Several local men gave speeches and offered toasts in honor of our country.

Josiah Hosmer, Jr. lived at the time in Whitefield, New Hampshire a short distance from Littleton. Josiah was 86 years old. His wife, Abigail (Barrett) Hosmer, died in 1829 at the age of 63 in Whitefield. After her death Josiah lived with his daughter Abigail (Hosmer) Wood in Whitefield.
